To coincide with Poetry Day Ireland and this years theme, Poetry Connects, Highlanes Gallery and Drogheda Arts Festival present are rehearsed reading of selected work from three giants of historic and contemporary poetry from Ireland, the UK and the US – W.B. Yeats, T.S. Elliot, and Sharon Olds. Acclaimed theatre-maker Sarah Baxter will direct award winning actor Judith Roddy in a reading of two acknowledged masterpieces – the epic Cuchulain’s Fight with the Sea by W. B. Yeats (1983), and the dramatic monologue The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot (1915) – followed by a selection of shorter works of profound understanding and piercing frankness from Stag’s Leap, the Pulitzer Prize-winning collection by Sharon Olds (2012).
