Boyne Valley Garden Trail

Saturday 30 April | 10.30am | Meet at Highlanes Gallery, Laurence St.

TICKETS: €20 (includes bus, morning coffee/tea at Collon House)

Climb aboard the festival bus and venture into the stunning Boyne Valley, visiting some of the Garden Trail highlights. First stop is Collon House in the centre of the pretty village of Collon. Dating back to the 1740s, it was once the home of John Foster, the last speaker of the Irish House of Commons. Morning coffee will be served in the characterful Georgian house, followed by a tour of the garden, designed in the style of the mid-18th century, with sunken box parterres, herbaceous borders and a courtyard filled with hostas. Sonairte Visitor Eco Centre is next, with its 18th century 1.8 acre walled organic garden, nature trail alongside the river Nanny, and Bee Museum. Listen to the birdsong on the rath and marvel at the biodiversity of woodland, meadow and marsh. The final visit is to the beautiful Edwardian walled garden at Listoke. The garden’s picturesque vistas, woodland walk, rare and special herbaceous plants, will delight any garden enthusiast.

Expect to return to Drogheda just after 1.00pm. Ticket price includes bus, morning coffee/tea at Collon House.
