This work, ARTEFACTS, grew out of a project entitled “treasure: startseeingsculpture”, a self-initiated project by John Moloney in April 2014. One of the elements of this project was called PIXEL landscape facing east – landscape facing west.  In it, he used the lighting aspect of the street furniture on West Street, Drogheda as a light box to display the two images, landscape facing east, and landscape facing west.

For the Drogheda Arts Festival 2018 John works with two other artists, Garry Maguire and Patrick Dillon to present their work using the lighting aspect of the street furniture on West Street, Drogheda.

For John Moloney everything is material, everything in the sensuous and non-sensuous world, and in that sense it is open to the play of meaning. Play plays an important part in his practice as an artist and offers what he would describe as ‘a revealing of the thingness of things’www.johnmoloney.co.uk

Garry Maguire’s work is a response to the pattern and nature of things within the urban environment. In 2014 he was a prize-winner in the celebrated Stevens Competition held by the Worshipful Company of Glaziers & Painters of Glass in London. In 2016 Garry achieved a B A Degree in Glass: Architectural Arts with First Class Honours. http://garrymaguire.wixsite.com/garry-maguire

Patrick Dillon produces work in the public realm based upon the future.  He has had solo exhibitions in Drogheda arts centre and QSS gallery, Belfast.  He did a performance at the Proto punk festival in Drogheda, 2016. www.patrickdillon.ie
