SUMMARY:Nós Nua - Louth Youth Folk Orchestra\, Mohsen Amini and Special Guests
DESCRIPTION:Drogheda Arts Festival is delighted to host this world premiere of specially commissioned work “Causeway”\, performed by Nós Nua – LouthYouth Folk Orchestra\, composed in collaboration with Multi-Award Winning musician Mohsen Amini\, who will also perform a concert with special guests on this double headed bill. \n“Causeway”\, is inspired by the story of the Giants Causeway\, and the cultural connections between Scotland and Ireland.  Nós Nua\, is made up of youth musicians from across Louth\, Meath\, Monaghan\, Cavan & Armagh. The Causeway project is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland\, through the Young Ensemble Scheme. The project has been delayed by two years due to the Covid-19 Pandemic with much of the preparation taking place on zoom\, with in person rehearsals commencing in January 2022. \nScottish Multi-Award Winning Folk musicians Mohsen Amini and Benedict Morris have just returned from a 5 week tour of America\, performing in 14 states with their band Talisk and will be joined by Mohsen’s bandmate from Ímar\, Ryan Murphy (pipes & flute) and virtuoso guitarist Shane McCartan for this exclusive performance. \nNós Nua began in 2017 and is a joint initiative of Music Generation Louth and Oriel Centre\, Dundalk Gaol (Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann regional centre for the northeast). \nNós Nua was the first folk orchestra to perform at the Festival of Youth Orchestras in the National Concert Hall\, Dublin. They have performed on TG4’s Fleadh TV\, at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Drogheda and recently recorded music for John Creedon’s Atlas of Ireland. The young people have worked with artists and composers such as Zoe Conway\, Dónal Ó Connor\, Martin Power and Scottish based supergroup Ímar. \nVIEW PROGRAMME
